Commemoration of the International Women Day

Sensitization of women on the use of Technology to curb Human Trafficking and Human Abuse (GBV, Child abuse etc.)

 

Objectives

  • To sensitize and encourage young women and the community on the use of technology in fighting Human Trafficking and abuse
  • Discussions and sharing of stories on issues affecting the community on human trafficking, violence and abuse.
  • Creating awareness on how technology can be harnessed to detect, rescue, and support potential or exploited trafficking victims.

 

The International Women Day, is commemorated  on the 8th of March annually, where the 2023 theme is on Use of technology in widening the economic status and fighting social inequalities (Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality). 

 

There has been a rise in cases of Human trafficking and abuse cases reported within the country, majority of cases have been found to mostly involving young women and girls, particularly those from vulnerable backgrounds and those with less or no access to right information, ending up being lured into false employment contracts, through unscrupulous agents, just to end up falling victims of human trafficking.

CEA as an organization, looks at the Gender aspects of Human Rights, and therefore  during this International Women Day, CEA looks forward to strengthens and  prevents activities that are against Humanity, by encouraging young women to embrace technology in fighting modern day slavery,   by building the capacities of the grassroots communities and bringing  awareness on factors that make people vulnerable to trafficking, and abuses, along with possible interventions.
