Consolation East Africa (CEA) joined the Men with Disability Society of Kenya (MDSK) and other partners in supporting the Dignity Diapers Campaign, an initiative aimed at raising awareness and mobilizing support for persons with disabilities who require diapers and other essential care products.
The campaign carries an ambitious goal of mobilising one million bags of diapers, highlighting the importance of dignity, inclusion and access to essential support for persons with disabilities.
From Planning to Action
As part of the preparations, CEA participated in planning engagements with MDSK and other partner organisations. One of the key activities was a physical site assessment at Uhuru Sports Complex, the venue identified for the walk.
The site visit provided an opportunity for partners to assess accessibility and discuss practical arrangements, including the placement of the stage and tents, vendor spaces, participant movement and crowd management. Particular attention was given to ensuring that the event environment would be accessible and welcoming to persons with disabilities.
The planning team later continued discussions at the MDSK offices at KU Plaza, where partners reviewed additional logistical requirements and areas of support. Among the needs identified was the mobilisation of ushers to support participant guidance and crowd management during the event.
Flag-Off of the Dignity Diapers Initiative
The planning activities culminated in the flag-off of the Dignity Diapers initiative, bringing together persons with disabilities, disability organisations, partners, supporters and members of the wider community.
The flag-off served as an important moment to amplify conversations around the everyday needs and dignity of persons with disabilities, particularly those who depend on diapers as part of their daily care.
Through its participation, CEA reaffirmed its commitment to disability-inclusive development and public health, recognising that meaningful inclusion requires attention not only to health services but also to the practical needs that affect people’s dignity, participation and quality of life.

Advancing Disability-Inclusive Action
The Dignity Diapers Campaign demonstrates the importance of collaboration between disability organisations, civil society organisations, communities and other stakeholders in addressing issues that directly affect persons with disabilities.
CEA’s involvement reflects its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote equitable access, dignity and inclusion, while strengthening partnerships that place persons with disabilities at the centre of conversations and solutions affecting their lives.
As the campaign continues towards its target of one million bags of diapers, CEA looks forward to continued collaboration with MDSK and other partners in advancing a more inclusive society where every person can live with dignity and access the support they need.
