The Global Goals for Sustainable Development (SDGs), officially known as “: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” consist of 17 goals and 169 targets that were created to end poverty, promote prosperity and well-being for all, and protect the planet. It was endorsed by UN General Assembly in Sept 2015, building off MDGs and what they did not achieve .The consist of 17 Goals, 169 Targets, 230 Indicators .Combine economic, environmental, and social dimensions of development, Intersectional, with a focus on linkages and breaking down silos to emphasis on multi-stakeholder engagement in implementation. Grounded in human rights treaties and language: “to realize the human rights of all and to achieve gender equality and empowerment of all women and girls and follows the Principle of “leave no one behind. CEA is a committee member of the TAP Network that exists to monitor the implementation of the 2030 agenda with the focus on Goal 16+. We encourage our partners to visit the TAP Network website so as to get materials on SDG 16+.CEA track the implementation and progress of Agenda 2030 within the Kenyan Government Ranks.
CEA organization objective on the SDGs:
Full attainment of the SDGs is the goal of all countries. Countries on the other hand would not be able to achieve all SDGs with out sacrificing some. This therefore calls for the participation of communities to monitor the achievement by their government of the SDGs. Interventions by Consolation to monitor SDGs include:
- Conducting parallel National Voluntary Reviews (NVRs)
- Sensitizing the society on SDGs
- Facilitating conversations on SDGs among the grassroots
- Working with the government arms responsible for monitoring the achievement of the SDGs.
