Mentorship Program

Mentoring of the youth, assists them in building positive relationships, offering a powerful counter-force to vulnerability and risk by providing protective forces that help youth become more resilient in dealing with life’s challenges. Consolation through this program targets vulnerable youth from difficult backgrounds, which runs for a period of 1 year incorporating three reflection months. Mentees work closely with CEA staff and partners for exposure in order to gain relevant skills. During the mentorship period, the mentees are taught a variety of skills including:

  • Life skills
  • Career Guidance
  • Community Service
  • Marketing skills
  • Project management
  • Communications skills
  • Report, minute and proposal writing,

At the end of the the program, the mentees are expected to have achieved high levels of self awareness, confidence & assertiveness and to understand how to chart their professional path. They will have been able to build quite some great social capital and also make progress in deciding what they will want to do with their lives: continue with the social sector, entrepreneurship, looking for a job or continuing with their professional formation.

Consolation, has also natured youths with talents to improve and reach their full potential in their craft. For example Dimes dance group, a crew which has been mentored to be a part of the BIG Story. With this, they have been linked with our partners to air out messages which act as advocacy tools and raise awareness to the society using their craft(contemporary dance).
