International Menstrual Hygene Day Celebrations in Kajiado 2023

 

Today’s celebrations was held in Nkaimurunya High school which was graced by Kajiado County Governor H.E Hon Joseph Ole Lenku, First lady Kajiado County Edna Lenku, Wife to Senator Kajiado County Ruth Seki, ACC1 Bathsheba Osiemo, CBOs, NGAO,  NPS, Religious leaders, Business Community, Financial Institutions, Ass.Chief Kware and Ass Chief Kandisi

The First Lady, Edna Lenku, who was the Chief guest Congratulated all the stake holders for a fabulous occasion. On narattion of her background and struggles she encountered as a girl amongst 9 children, a housewife mom and a watchman father, pressed on resilience to learners even through hardships. Boy child was assured to be considered in empowerment just like the girl child. Girls to be given sanitary towels while boys to revieve undergarments.

The Governor also echoed similar remarks promising to issue with 200,000 kshs bursary funds to the very needy students.

Menstrual Hygiene, Menstrual related stigma,and teen pregnancies, were addressed and students urged  to avoid drugs and substance abuse which will interfere with their destinies.. Also 200 hundred trees were planted to mark the occasion.

These event was brought about by the Taskforce group. Where the taskforce was started as a result of increase in high teenage pregancies in kajiado North, as a prevention pregram which entails CBOs, FBOs, Government, coorprates, and otherstakeholders.  CEA being a member of the taskforce group, took part in the planning of the “support pads for birthday initiative” theme “I am commited”.
