Each year KSB organizes a climb for the blind at Mount Longonot where this year Consolation was graced with the opportunity to assist in planning and participating in this climb. A day of adventure, exploration and unforgettable memories to support students with visual impairments.
This event was intended to raise public awareness on the risk of blindness, tackle and change the rising threat of visual impairment among school going children, support learners with visual impairment by providing learning materials and assistive devices and also support the Society in fulfilling our mandate in promoting inclusive education. This event provided an opportunity for CSOs, corporates, schools and all to impact change to persons with visual impairment and disability in the community.
The climb was graced by an elite team of visually impaired persons. Participants included the Hon 2nd lady Dorcas Rigathi, area senetor, School children both sighted and with Visual Impairment, Visually Impaired Persons, Persons with Disability, Partners, Representatives from Public and Private sector, Corporates, the media and friends of the Society.
The planning was to call upon participants to the Mt. Longonot Climb in order to raise funds for: i) provide assistive technology devices and magnifiers,
ii) white Canes,
iii) provide Braille Machines and ensure they are maintained,
iv) provide Braille Papers,
v) ensure adequate pep kits for learners with visual impairment
