Consolation, Sight of Relief, THELP and Maendeleo ya Walemavu as Organizations championing for Persons with Disabilities, we have collectively initiated a Dignity Diaper Camping to close the gap of diaper need in the society towards children and adult with incontinence condition for the next 5 years. Our aim is to provide free diapers to members with incontinence in the community while raising awareness of the basic health need for diapers. We are envisioned to eliminate the existence of diaper need in our community so that all children and elderly with incontinence have a chance to be healthy, safe and self-reliant.
As a society we have a responsibility for our children and adults’ well-being as a public good that benefits us all. Small things such as a diaper can impact big things including health and well-being of our children and adult with incontinence. A diaper makes children and adults with incontinence reach great heights of having strong faith and confidence to fighting stigma and limitations. Affording diapers keeps most parents out of workplace and single out families with incontinence at risk. Without proper health victims of incontinence miss opportunities for early childhood education which leads to school dropout especially girls who have attained their menstrual cycle. Also affects the elderly social integration, and environmental adaption.

This four organizations the set a strategy which was to end the diaper crisis for the year 2023 by setting up a diaper bank center to receive donations from a diaper campaign which commenced from 21st to 24th of September targeting to aid a million bale of diapers to benefit hundreds of thousands of families with incontinence. This strategy involved a procession which was meant to raise awareness on this National diapers Need Awareness week from Kenyatta National Hospital to Lunar Park, with which it was also set to move to all the way to Meru County. Our young mentees, the Dimes dancers graced the day with great dances too

The campaign raised awareness and was able to get assistive items for the need of the beneficiaries up to 375,000 bales. Also, the participants on the campaign got to undergo free medical check-ups within their kidneys and bowels, and identified those who were not registered as persons with disability. This being the first campaign of its kind, awareness creation on this condition is still on-going and donations of diapers too.
