On May 28, 2025, Consolation East Africa (CEA) proudly joined the global Menstrual Hygiene Day celebration in Oldonyo Nyokie, Kajiado County, standing in solidarity with efforts to break the silence, challenge stigma, and promote dignity for all who menstruate. The event brought together health professionals, community leaders, teachers, youth, and non-profit partners to foster open, stigma-free conversations around menstrual health and hygiene. CEA participated in educational sessions and live demonstrations, emphasizing the biological understanding of menstruation, proper hygiene practices, and the importance of inclusive menstrual health education in schools. A key highlight of the day was the distribution of sanitary pads and hygiene kits to adolescent girls—an essential act in addressing period poverty, made possible through the generous support of our partners.

This celebration underscored that menstrual health is not just a women’s issue—it’s a community responsibility rooted in gender equality, human rights, and social justice. CEA reaffirmed its commitment to menstrual health advocacy by pledging to scale up education in schools and youth forums, expand outreach efforts to combat stigma, and promote sustainable menstrual solutions such as reusable pads and local production. We are also engaging policy actors to advance menstrual equity across Kajiado County. Menstrual Hygiene Day 2025 was more than a one-day event; it was a bold statement of inclusion and resilience. CEA is honored to continue standing with communities to ensure that no girl is held back because of her period.
