Consolation East Africa (CEA) and the Counter Human Trafficking Trust – East Africa (CHTEA) convened a landmark youth workshop at Ngong Catholic Diocese, bringing together over 25 youth leaders from Narok, Kajiado, and Nairobi to raise awareness and equip them to take action against human trafficking.
The workshop, grounded in Catholic social teachings, addressed trafficking realities in Kenya and globally—highlighting emerging issues like cyber exploitation and organ trafficking. Through interactive sessions, real-life case studies, and group discussions, youth explored vulnerabilities in their communities and learned practical ways to identify, prevent, and respond to trafficking.

Participants delved into pressing challenges such as peer pressure, social media manipulation, and poverty that traffickers exploit. Discussions underscored the need for better support systems, survivor-centered approaches, and stronger collaboration between churches, schools, law enforcement, and civil society.
“This is more than training—it’s a call to action,” said one facilitator. “Our youth are not only potential victims but powerful agents of change.”
The event concluded with a commitment by participants to lead local awareness campaigns, build peer support systems, and engage community structures in preventing trafficking. Organizers plan to replicate the workshop in other dioceses and build a faith-led youth movement against human trafficking.
